This shirt was part of the runway collection of Comme des Garcon Shirt´s Fall Winter 2018 collection as look 29.
For this collection, Comme the Garcons collaborated with the Jean-Michel Basquiat estate to use various of his paintings and artworks as prints for the shirts and t-shirts from the collection. However, Basquiat's relationship with Comme des Garcons goes back to the time when he was still alive. The artist was a big fan of Rei Kawakubo's designs and used to wear them. The relationship peaked when he walked on the runway for Comme the Garcons´ Spring/Summer 1987 collection, just one year before his tragic death.
This shirt prominently features one of Basquiat´s artworks on the front and a stripe design, as well as a grey wool panel and a similar design on the back. The colors are reduced to black, blue, and grey which makes this shirt very easy to wear.
