Rei Kawakubo has always incorporated a lot of flowers and floral motifs into her work. The peak of this practice was probably her wildly celebrated Spring Summer 2000 collection, where she worked together with Gobelins Manufactory, which is a French producer of tapestries, that dates back to the 17th century and used to provide the French kings.

All of the Gobelin pieces from this collection are actually made from real Gobelin, a type of weaving that is also used to produce tapestry. As such, all of those pieces are handmade and unique. They are exceedingly hard to find and highly desirable among collectors.
