This jacket is one of the first pieces from Junya Watanabe´s longstanding collaboration with Levi´s, and one of the most iconic ones. The collaboration exists for more than 20 years now and has produced some of the Japanese designer's most famous pieces. Watanabe, who likes to rework classic workwear garments, has numerous collaborations with brands famous for their durable clothing. Among them are Carhartt, the North Face, and Levi´s.
This specific jacket is from Junya Watanabe's second collection, Fall Winter 2002/2003. It is a classic two-pocket trucker jacket-a silhouette that Levi´s produces since 1965 as "Type-3". This new interpretation of the classic features bold stripes in red, blue, and beige which are all sown together. The construction of this jacket really is unbelievable. Adding to that, it is executed in exceptional quality, which, as Watanabe likes to say on his tags, differs from that of standard Levi's products.
