This jacket truly deserves the attribution iconic. It is from one of the most important, if not the most important Y-3 collections ever, the 2004 "Heroes". In that collection, some pieces featured prints from the Japanese brush artist Saeko Tsuemura. Yohji Yamamoto has worked with the artist three times now, twice for his mainline (A/W1991 and S/S2002) and once for Y-3 (S/S 2004, the collection of this jacket).
Y-3, Yamamoto's continuous collaboration with Adidas, used to be different back then in comparison to the designs of today. There is, for example, no branding on the jacket, and the quality is noticeably better.
Pieces from the three collaborations with Saeko Tsuemura are among the rarest and most sought-after works by Yohji Yamamoto. This jacket was also featured on the runway, which makes It even more desirable.
